In more religiouss societies mixed marriages represent a special phenomenon. You are an indicator of the importance of religion in the religious identity and Ellen in the interaction of members of society. Since the handing down of religion takes place primarily in religious contexts, have this place and its amendments to a socialization relevance. The project, begun in 2009, examines the impact of confessional differences in the religious socialization in inter-religious families of the Federal Republic, which have found from this point in the historical and social science research have attracted little attention, and covers the period from the end of World War II until the 1970s.

The focus is whether the socialization in a family konfessionsverschiedenen to a (re) confessionalisation or rather led to a laicization and how they promoted a reflection of the Konfessionalität. In this context several stages in the development of gemischtkonfessionellen marriages in Germany in the 20th Century and the influence of different socialization conditions and factors on the subsequent willingness to pursue such marriages. Moreover, the attention is on the change of ecclesiastical attitude towards the problem of mixed marriages and families. The investigation will be conducted at both the macro and at the meso and micro levels, and combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. As part of the research I "religion and socialization," it is networked with other projects of the research group.
